My Uncle was married this last September. When he told me they were having the ceremony and reception in their backyard, there is no way I could have pictured a more beautiful location. Having never been to Florida – or anywhere down in the south for that matter – I couldn’t believe how green everything was. That part of the country is completely breathtaking. Though I can’t say I’d voluntarily pack my bags and move there; the humidity and I don’t quite get along.

Here are a few of my favorite images from Ron & Michelle’s ceremony. Before you go any further, take note: Michelle made her own wedding dress. Talk about some serious talent! Oh and the guy in the goofy glasses? That’s my dad! Fortunately, he only wears those glasses on special occasions. :)

The close of a calendar year is always bittersweet for me. This year is no different. Looking back I’ve enjoyed documenting the growth of families, the accomplishment of a young lady, and the celebration of love – both young and old. I’ve met some amazing people, many of which I look forward to seeing again over the years. Thank you to all my clients for making this year special and inviting me out to document your life.

Now let’s chat about 2012. Not toooooooo many changes with the business side of my life, but personally there are some BIG changes. For starters, this April we are expecting a new addition to our family! I’m pretty sure my daughter hasn’t fully grasped what this means quite yet, but she’s pretty excited to be a big sister. So of course this means I will be on maternity leave for most of April and all of May. If you’re planning to book a session please contact me before April. After that, openings will be very limited. I will also book a few weddings this summer, but not nearly as many as this last year. In fact, July is already booked, with only a couple of openings in June and August. Then…in September my little family of four, will be making a temporary move all the way across the country to Augusta, Georgia so my husband can finish some school. Considering I’ve lived in Nevada my entire life, I’m both excited and completely terrified about this move. In the very slim chance someone from Georgia is reading this or knows someone out there, don’t be afraid to shoot me a message. I won’t know a single soul. Eeek!

This will be my last post of the year, so I’m leaving you with my top most cherished images from this last year. Thank you all for your support. I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday and I wish you a happy new year!

A late July wedding and here it is now December. While I didn’t want to put off blogging all of these weddings until all of my editing for the season was complete, it’s kind of surreal to look back months later. Andy & Kristen are two of the sweetest people you’ll meet. And I must have lucked out in the calm bride department this year, Kristen was a dream to work with. Her elegance and beauty just radiated from her that day. You’ll see:

Venue: Cal Neva Resort
Dress: Marchele’s Bridal
Flowers: Stacy Riddell
Hair & Makeup: Alison Berry

And thanks to my trusty second shooter, Harmony Hilderbrand, for some great shots.

Troy and Laura’s wedding celebration was truly about two families coming together as one. Most of Laura’s family comes from Minnesota and many were able to make it out for this special day. And they couldn’t have chosen a more gorgeous venue.

Venue: Fairview Gardens
Caterer: Alexander’s Catering
Hair and Makeup: The Decorated Bride
Floral Design: Devonwoods
Cake: Batter Up Cupcakes, Danielle Stiritz
Shout out to Emily Loftus for coming out to second shoot with me!

Now for something special. Almost two months after Troy & Laura’s wedding we were able to meet up for a “day after” session at their grandparent’s lake house – what a breath taking place! Corey, with The Decorated Bride even made it out to recreate Laura’s hair and makeup. Day After sessions are my favorite. It takes the stress out of making sure to schedule enough time on your wedding day for portraits, when you could be hanging out with friends and family that have traveled so far. Plus you are also able to choose another location and use the best available light. Here were some of my favorites from our very early morning session:
